LSA Supports Local Charity QCCA!

We're proud to announce that the LSA alumni community, headed by Christie Doyle-John have come together to create a unique online charity event! To raise money for local charity Queens Crescent Community Association (QCCA) the LSA Alumni will be coming together to host a day of live DJ streams!

Queens Crescent Community Association

QCCA is a charity just a stones throw from our Camden Town studios. They have been supporting the local community in Queens Crescent for 20 years, providing free services and a vital hub for local residents. They run a large youth club, activities for older people and family support programs. In 2019, 3000 people came through the QCCA doors for help, support and community spirit!

The COVID19 pandemic has affected the funding of many charities including QCCA and they are now unfortunately having to cut back services and prioritise what they spend their budget on. There is now a special focus on making sure that local residents in need have enough food. They have created a 'Fight C19' campaign which includes food packages for those in need. They are also offering emotional support and befriending services.

If you would like to donate directly to their efforts click here or visit their website to arrange a direct transfer of funds.

Bessie Woo

Bessie Woo's passion for music started at a young age having grown up in a musical family, with both her Twin Brother and Father DJing around the UK on the Northern Soul scene. It was this style of music from the 60's and 70's that inspired her to become a DJ and join the London Sound Academy where she completed the Advanced DJ Course. Three years later, she's now playing at clubs across London and most recently played at The Horse & Groom- one of her favourite venues in the City. Following a successful career as a Professional Dancer, it's no surprise that Bessie has a real presence behind the decks and her energy and bubbly personality shines through. Expect to see a fun, uplifting performance full of Disco, Funk, Soul and House.

Super excited and honoured to be part of this fantastic LSA all day festival for a great cause. It's such a difficult time for everyone right now, but as a nation we stand strong and will get through this together. Music is the one thing that brings people together, where we can forget all our troubles and lose ourself in the music. Big thanks to the LSA Alumni community for all your hard work and efforts to make this festival one to remember.

A recent LSA grad and newbie DJ; Christie's fun and uplifting sound covers a range of House genres and Disco with a twist on old school Funky classics. Her Welsh passion and energy aims to get people dancing and feeling good - you'll find it hard to resist the groove!

"This festival is bringing together a community of Music lovers for a great cause. Connection is so important at the moment - and finding a way to interact with others and uplift them through Music is what this event is about. We want to bring a bit of fun to people's weekends in lockdown and lifts spirits during this challenging time. It's been a fantastic effort from all involved to pull this together, it's exciting to see the LSA Alumni community collaborating in aid of others and for a fantastic charity QCCA."
Fhone

Furqan Hasan aka FHONE is a mixed genre DJ with a passion for playing Hip-Hop, R&B, Dance, Disco, Bhangra/Bollywood, Garage, House and Tech House music.
FHONE’s passion for music has always been the biggest and most integral part of his life. His earlier influences were Bollywood music along with the Motown and the Detroit music scene. Soul and Funk has and will always be something that resonates with FHONE’s core frequency. While growing up, education took priority over music. However countless hours were spent in the 80’s collecting music from various mediums like Top of the Pops, Soul Train, Hitman and Her amongst others.
FHONE always found music to be the one language that transcended people’s inhibitions and differences. His passion for playing music and seeing people dance and expressing themselves continues to be at the forefront of his motivation to learn and to produce music. Formally training with the London Sound Academy provided the foundational tools and the platform to be able to perform as a DJ. FHONE can now be seen playing in the London club circuit. He has already played in some of London’s biggest venues, including Ministry of Sound & EGG, where he has supported international acts including Bob Sinclair, John OO Fleming, Markus Schulz to name just a few. He continues to expand his footprint on the DJ scene and has performed at private events internationally in Geneva, Kitzbuhel and Karachi to name a few as well as numerous ones domestically. 2020 is going to be year where FHONE aims to focus on music production. The ultimate goal being to developing a signature sound and elevate his profile. 2020 will be a key for FHONE in the electronic music scene.

"This is a difficult time for everyone not just in the UK but across the world. Throughout history society has had many poignant moments and this is one of them. We will look back at this time and think about what contributions we made individually and collectively. This event is a reflection of our current ability to reach out to people and maybe for a few moments enlighten people with the one thing that unites us all, and that is music. So this is a great opportunity for me to be involved, and I'm grateful to everyone who has been instrumental in putting this together."
