How to Submit a Demo to LSA Records
Firstly, your demo should be of an industry-standard. If you’re tracks are not comparable in quality to music released on our label or other professional labels you might need to work on them a bit more before submitting. We recommend you book a 1-1 production lessons with a senior music producer at LSA for guidance. These lessons can be online or in person at our studios in London.
Secondly, check your track only includes samples that you have legal permission to use. Tell us where you got your samples and vocals from. It’s best to be totally transparent to avoid wasting any time or for potential financial penalties or lawsuits further down the line. Producers are responsible and will be held liable for the content of their productions, so do yourself a favour and get this right!
If you have used a sample but don’t have legal permission you can try and seek it from the rights owner, however, this is normally very difficult. It’s better to make music with no samples where possible, or only samples that are not very recognisable and from legal sources.
We discourage producers using Splice vocal samples, because although they are legal, everyone has access to them making those productions easy for anyone to copy, and essentially worthless in the eyes of a record label.
If your track is ready to rock upload it to your Soundcloud account as a private upload. Then send us the link to your track. Make sure the link is only for us. Make sure your demo has not been released publicly anywhere before sending it over.
It’s advisable to also include your artist EPK into the email and some info on how your produced the track like what DAW you used, where you sourced the samples and what the general concept of the track is. We’d like you to sell the tracks and show us how proud of it you are.
Not only do we want to sign great music but we want to work with professional artists, these means people who conduct themselves in the manner you’d expect from an A-list producer. First impressions count.
Not sure if your music is ready for release? It’s okay, just send us your demo and we’ll provide you with some expert advice and feedback free of charge.
What is the Timeline For Releasing with LSA Records?
Once you’ve submitted your demo you can expect a reply from us within seven days. We will listen to your demo and provide feedback by email. We will inform you if we think it’s the right type of track for the label or if we think there is further work to be done.
If your demo is approved we will then arrange a phone call or online meeting for you to introduce yourself as an artist and let us know about your future plans. This discovery call will bolster your chances of signing with LSA so use it as an opportunity to sell your music and yourself as a new artist.
After the call, our team will decide wether to offer you the opportunity to release with LSA. If you pass this step you’ll be provided with a draft contract and an opportunity to ask questions or seek independent legal advice.
Upon receiving the singing of the contract we will arrange a call to discuss your release schedule and promotion schedule.
The whole process from sending your demo, arranging some meetings, signing the contract to promoting your release and the actual release takes on average two months.
